Never put aromatherapy candles in a window area or directly expose to bright daylight or indoor spotlights. Candles tend to fade if left in the light for any length of time.

Keep candles out of drafts when lit, drafts create larger erratic flames that shorten the burning time.

Aromatherapy candle wicks should be trimmed to a 1/4" from the wax to extend the burning time.

An aromatherapy candle will burn more slowly and evenly if it is refrigerated before lighting. Wrap the candle in film or foil before refrigerating this will prevent wicks from absorbing moisture.

Each time you light an aromatherapy pillar candle, burn it long enough to create a pool of wax across most of the diameter of the candle. The candle will then last longer and burn more evenly again.

Before your function, light and then extinguish the candles as they will light more quickly and easily when you are ready to use them.

Extinguish candles when they get close to two inches from their holders or decorations.

To extinguish a candle, using a nonflammable instrument, like tweezers, dip the wick into the liquid wax. This little known technique eliminates smoking of an extinguished wick, then pinch the wick to re-centre it.

Allow spilled wax to solidify so when it hardens it can be removed in pieces. Cover with a paper kitchen towel and or brown parcel paper and gently press out with a warm iron - the wax will melt and be absorbed into the paper. Avoid spilling wax on furniture as any removal process may still leave residue.

Floating aromatherapy candles must be used within a container they can provide both a formal and informal setting for either a dinner party or barbecue. Floating aromatherapy candles used in a clear bowl create an extra special lighting effect. A good tip is to use distilled water which eliminates mineral buildup on the side of crystal or glass, preserving its unique presentation of floating candles.

Votive aromatherapy candles are made of a low melt wax. The tighter they fit within the container, the longer the aromatherapy candle will burn.

Cleaning the Votive aromatherapy candle container can frustrating and time consuming. To eliminate this, simply place 1/8" of tap water in the base of the votive holder before lighting. After the votive candle is extinguished, allow the aromatherapy candle wax to solidify, then, gently push on the wax and the aromatherapy candle should pop loose. If that fails, put container in the icebox for about 15 minutes. Take it out and press on the aromatherapy candle wax a little, it should then pop out.
